Stephen McArdle joins the Octagon board

Bolton-based Solicitor Stephen McArdle, has recently been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre.

The theatre which first opened its doors in Bolton 48 years ago, welcomes Stephen to the board as the youngest Trustee of the organisation to date. Stephen McArdle is an Associate Solicitor specialising in Commercial Litigation at Bolton based law firm, Kippax Beaumont Lewis. He is an avid supporter of the charity and is a regular theatre goer.

Speaking of his appointment Stephen said “The Octagon is one of Bolton’s leading institutions and it is a privilege to be invited to join the board. Aside from producing excellent theatre, one of the great assets of the Octagon is that it also carries out tremendous work in community projects, in education and with younger people in and around Bolton.  I look forward to making a positive contribution to the Octagon at this exciting time and during the years ahead.”

Stephen’s appointment comes at an exciting time for The Octagon which has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, appointed a new Artistic Director and set out ambitious plans for redevelopment to secure the next 50 years of the theatre’s life.  In addition, a new theatre degree partnership has been formed with the University of Bolton which will enable students to study the critical and practical aspects of theatre in both university and professional settings.

Chief Executive at the Octagon, Roddy Gauld commented “I’m delighted to welcome Stephen to the board.  As a charity we are governed by representatives of the town who each bring particular skills and expertise.  In Stephen, we not only have invaluable legal knowledge but also someone who is bringing energy, enthusiasm and a range of local connections to the theatre.  I know he will make a great contribution to our future.”
