Kathryn Maclennan appointed Trustee of national debt charity
We are pleased to share that Kathryn Maclennan, Insolvency Partner at KBL, has been appointed as a Trustee of The Debt Advice Foundation, a national charity offering free, confidential debt advice and education to people experiencing financial difficulty.
Kathryn’s appointment reflects her extensive experience within the insolvency sector and her commitment to supporting individuals, families and businesses facing challenging financial circumstances.
As a Trustee, Kathryn will support The Debt Advice Foundation’s work to help people understand their options, regain control of their finances and access the advice and education they need to build a more secure future.
This support is becoming increasingly important as many households continue to face rising financial pressure. Between 1st March and 31st May 2026, The Debt Advice Foundation supported 1,846 new cases and helped people address almost £5 million of debt, with the cost of living named as the main reason people sought help.
The charity’s focus is not only on providing support when people find themselves in financial difficulty, but also on preventing future debt problems through education and awareness. Its DebtAware programme delivers money management sessions in schools, helping young people develop essential financial skills for life.
The impact of the charity’s approach is reflected in feedback from those it supports, with 100% of clients surveyed (1st March – 31st May 2026) confirming that their queries had been answered, that the call was very helpful and that they would recommend the service to others.
Speaking about her appointment, Kathryn said “Throughout my career in insolvency, I have seen the impact that financial pressures can have on people’s lives. Often, seeking advice is the first important step towards finding a solution and moving forward. The work carried out by The Debt Advice Foundation is incredibly valuable because it provides people with access to free, impartial support at a time when they need it most, while also helping to improve financial education for future generations. I am delighted to join the Board of Trustees and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the charity.”
