Double win for KBL Solicitors at the Bolton Law Society Dinner 2025
KBL celebrated double success at the Bolton Law Society Dinner on Friday with former partner David Johnson receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and trainee solicitor Lucy Yates named second runner-up in the Training Lawyer of the Year category. Both awards were presented by the current Law Society President, David Kitchen at the dinner held at the Holiday Inn, Bolton.
David Johnson joined KBL in 2001 as Partner and Head of Property and retired 18 months ago. During his time at the firm, he advised builders and developers on a wide range of matters, including residential and commercial development, leases, acquisitions and disposals and also served as the firms CQS Senior Reporting Officer. His dedication to the profession and lasting impact on colleagues and clients were formally recognised at the dinner.
Speaking of David’s achievement, partner, Michael Slater said “David’s recognition is thoroughly deserved, his expertise, professionalism and dedication have certainly left a lasting legacy at KBL and evidently across the local legal community.”
Lucy joined KBL in 2022 after completing her studies at Liverpool John Moores University and at the University of Law, Manchester. She spent two years as a paralegal in the Family Law team before embarking on a 6-month sabbatical in Australia, later returning to KBL to commence her training contract this year.
“Being recognised at the Bolton Law Society Dinner is an honour” said Lucy. “Growing up with parents who served in the police, I witnessed first-hand the dedication and integrity required to uphold the law. Their example instilled in me a strong sense of justice and a deep commitment to helping others. I’m also very grateful to KBL for the guidance and support that has helped me grow as a lawyer so far.”
Michael went on to say “Lucy is an outstanding member of the team, she is bright, dedicated and a pleasure to work with. We are delighted to see her recognised, alongside David, for the qualities we value so much at KBL.”
