During lockdown it is still possible to safely update or write a new Will. KBL’s specialist solicitors are classed as key workers by the Ministry of Justice and have received guidance to ensure that their safety and that of our clients is paramount.
Our Will writing procedures are being reviewed regularly and we have put special measures in place to allow new and existing clients to instruct us in regard to making a new Will or to update an existing one.
We can take initial instructions over the phone, by email or by video call. To finalise your Will it requires witnesses to your signature, we can arrange this at our office where we have colleagues who can act as witnesses or when circumstances dictate and within Government directives, we can organise to see you at your home.
Maria Lonergan, Partner at KBL Solicitors says “Understandably at this time there has been an increase in enquiries regarding Wills, Power of Attorney and probate. We are operating as normal and continue to take instructions from new and existing clients.”
At the moment many people are anxiously trying to get a Will written, either for themselves or for vulnerable and elderly relatives. Everyone ought to have a Will, but it is important to have it drafted properly by specialists to ensure it will give family members peace of mind and is legally binding.
If you or your family members require advice or assistance with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, tax planning or asset protection please don’t hesitate to contact Maria Lonergan at mlonergan@kbl.co.uk or Chris Taylor ctaylor@kbl.co.uk on 01204 527777.
