LPA Registration Fees Are Increasing

LPA

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has announced that, subject to parliamentary approval, the fee to register a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) will increase from £82 to £92 per application from 17 November 2025.

Registering an LPA is what makes the document legally effective. The registration process isn’t instant and typically takes around 12 weeks. Those with unregistered LPAs who are considering registration should act quickly to benefit from the current rates.

An LPA is more than just a legal document, it is a way to ensure that, should you ever lose the ability to make decisions yourself, someone you trust can step in and act on your behalf.

There are two types of LPA:

  • Property and Financial Affairs which allows your attorney to manage finances, pay bills and handle property matters.
  • Health and Welfare which enables your attorney to make decisions about healthcare and daily care, reflecting your wishes and best interests.

Having an LPA in place gives peace of mind both for you and your loved ones. Without one, family members may face uncertainty and delays if decisions need to be made on your behalf.
