Redundancy Payment Increase

The Government has confirmed that the statutory cap for redundancy payments will rise from £350.00 per week to £380.00.

This change will apply to dismissals taking place on or after 1st October 2009 and will not be reviewed until February 2011.

This one off increase was announced in the 2009 Budget as a result of the well publicised credit crunch in the hope that it will ease the pressure placed upon redundant employees. This weekly limit will also be applicable to certain other types of payments such as the basic award for unfair dismissal.
