Compensation Limits Rise Again

The yearly increases in compensation limits for claims in the Employment Tribunal have now come into force.

For dismissals occurring on or after 1st February 2009, the following apply:

  • The maximum limit on a week’s pay has risen from £330 to £350;

  • The maximum compensatory award in standard unfair dismissal claims has jumped from £63,000 to £66,200; and

  • In certain unfair dismissal cases (for example where the reason for dismissal is trade union membership or activities) the minimum basic award has risen from £4,400 to £4,700.
